stars of the lid

February 9, 2009

No other music actually gets me thinking like Stars of the Lid does. Maybe it’s just the drone-based ambiance of the music, or that so little is really going on that you have time to just sit there and think. Whatever it is, it works and I can’t stop listening to them today. So check them out.

growing up with star wars

February 9, 2009

I honestly can’t tell you how I stumbled upon this flickr pool, but I’m glad I did. The entire pool is filled with pictures of people dressed as their favorite Star Wars characters during the time period of 1977-1985. I still remember the day that my mom walked into my room while I was sick and handed me the original trilogy(the new ones can suck it) on VHS. It was a magical day.

cherri wood

February 8, 2009

I stumbled upon the artist Cherri Wood during my daily hourly notcot session. I suppose what drew her to me was the fact that she never drew faces to any of her drawings, which I could relate to because I never draw eyes in any of mine. Anyone who is able to make a painting/sketch/drawing artistic as well as interesting while missing what some would believe to be the key aspect to a drawing is worth checking out. (that sure was a run-on).  Anyways, check out her site, and if you are in SF go down to the Gallery 1988 and check out her show(Some Kind of Wonderful) that opened tonight (last night).

Oh and I take back what I said about her not drawing faces to her paintings, those were only the pieces in the Some Kind of Wonderful show. Her work is still great!
